Halfway There

Well this Tuesday I marked the halfway point in this pregnancy, 20 weeks y'all. I had an appointment today and every time I go, I get an ultrasound which I realize is pretty awesome, because I guess that isn't the norm for most ob/gyn offices. It is fun watching the changes every 3-4 weeks. Plus it is nice to hear, everything looks good every time! So now that I am halfway, I thought I would put a little weight on, especially considering the girl scout cookies and plates of french toast I have consumed. Wouldn't you know it, that I have yet to gain any weight. I either gain or lose a pound or two btw appointments, but no major movement. So apparently pregnancy is the one time in my life my body does not gain weight. I know I will as it goes along, but it is just weird to me. I bet you $100 I put on 30 lbs, AFTER this baby is born... that would just be my luck.

Not a lot going on here, just a lot of running around. This weekend Matt heads to Cedar Falls for a reunion with his crew and next weekend we had to Madison, WI, for a wedding of good friends of ours from law school. We are jacked to reunite the MN crew, and Matt is ever happier that we will spend less $ in booze, he still gets to drink, and he will have a driver...lucky guy!

This last weekend Matt and I went baby furniture shopping. We went about a month ago, and it was overwhelming. I then went to a million places in between to narrow things down. Everything I found was either too cheap and crappy, too expensive, too boring, or the people who worked at the place talked to me like I was a 2 year old and I found it incredibly annoying. I am pregnant, I am not the baby. So I found a place here in Omaha called Kids Stuff, that had a million choices and decided it was the best place to take Matt. I have a husband who likes to be involved. I say this lovingly. When we were planning our wedding, Matt didn't care, but the last two weeks he became interested and I wanted to kill him. Do not question decisions when 7 months earlier you said, "whatever, I don't care." I knew there is no way I could buy anything without showing him, otherwise it would come to our house and he would go, "oh is that color called paprika? I don't really like it."

So we spent a few hours in the store and we got some furniture, car seat, stroller, and this "base" madness they talk about. Matt was screwing around with the car seat display in the store and for 20 minutes neither one of us could figure out how to get the carrier thing off the base. Two graduate level educations and a fucking latch trumped us. After 20 minutes of struggling, thinking it was just a display and didn't work, trying to rip it off the base, screaming at each other in hushed tones that the other one wasn't doing it right, we finally figured out how to get the car seat in and out of the base. We are officially ready for this baby.

Nothing says I put out like a bump! So here is 20 week pic. I am working it. I mean check out this lunge!

PC's Welcome

Now that the majority of our friends and family know about our impending expansion, things are returning to normal, or as normal as they will be from now on. I still haven't told everyone at work, I am still holding on to my secret there. I don't know why, but I kind of enjoy that I get to keep it to myself, if only for a little while longer. I had an appointment this week, and everything is going well. Still no weight gain, but I know I will make up for it. Weird that you aren't gaining weight, but your pants don't fit... the irony.. Well before we went out for dinner one night this weekend, we took 14 (almost 15) week belly pics. Just a little bump...

and Matt's

Now for the gross part. This whole pregnancy stuff is weird, creepy, and pretty awesome. Just about the time I was no longer feeling hung over, I encountered a new wonderful pregnancy side effect... constipation. I am talking about it openly because no one told me about it! See I am a girl who enjoys my bathroom time. That is the reason I subscribe to Vanity Fair, it takes a whole month to read it, and People, who doesn't like pictures of celebrities while doing their business! People who say reading in the loo is gross, are weird to me. Because I think those people are missing out on one of the greatest American pass times.

So I started having issues and I tried everything I was told to do. More exercise, high fiber, weird juices, steady probiotics, softners, double espressos.. and I got zilch, nothing, nada. After a way too long of time period, I had to use the dreaded last resort. And so I don't have to spell it out, let's just say you can't take an oral laxative during pregnancy, so there is one choice... you get the picture.

So I did it, and the first time I had to do it, I was in Algona, during New Years, AT MY IN LAWS!!! Can you ask for a more embarrassing predicament!! So I did it, and it was horrible. I thought I was going to die, I started sweating, I had to open the window, I then really thought I was going to die, my vision got blurry and then when it was over, I felt like a million bucks! Luckily for me I have a fabulous Mother in law, who was very concerned and was relieved I felt better when it was over. She was even so sweet as to text me a week later and told me she was thinking of me and my constipation, and hoped I was feeling better. She is the best, and my issue has now become a family affair! Unfortunately I have had to do this another time, but my system is getting more refined. But I am begging for a natural PC! (Potty Crisis, hence the title above!)

So I am hoping it gets better. I have heard from other moms who have had this issue and some say oh it will go away, or it will last the whole time, or that it only gets worse...oh happy day! I told my mom, that when people say you will never love anything as much as you will love this baby, I really better feel that way because if I have to put things in my exit to feel better for the next 6 months, it better be the best god damn baby out there! (DISCLAIMER: for those who don't know me and are reading this, I am joking, I know I will love my baby, I already do more than I could ever imagine, this is just my sense of humor, and I just really want to take a sh*t.)

Matt & Me & Margaritas Make 3

Merry Christmas Bloggers! We had a fantastic holiday, and are getting into the swing of our week. As as you may be able to tell from the title, our biggest news over the holiday was that Matt and I will move on from a 7.5 years as a couple of two, and add a 3rd. We are having a baby Kajewski due July, 3rd, a little firecracker! We are very excited and I am absolutely terrified about taking this plunge. I have been backing out of the starting gate when it came to this baby business for almost a year now, well I said oh let's try one month, and hence I am now 13 weeks pregnant today! Thank god I never played Russian Roulette in HS or College, or god knows whose baby I would have right now! I really should stand outside High School's and Dorm's with Ben & Jerry's and tell these girls, "It only takes one time! Your mother and health teachers are not lying to you!" But I would probably be arrested for being creepy, instead of informative! Humor and Terror aside, I am excited.

Well Matt and I have kept the big news all to ourselves over the last couple months. I did tell my law school girlfriends, because I was dying to tell someone, and I told my UNI girlfriends a few days before my fam, but needless to say our parents, siblings, and Holstein friends were pleasantly surprised. When we found out we were having a baby, we decided that we wanted to use Christmas to our advantage to tell our families in a fun way. We draw names on both sides of our families', and Matt got Riley so we got him a "World's Greatest Uncle" t-shirt as part of his gift. We got baby Whitney a toy, and asked her to share it with her baby cousin. Everyone was extremely surprised and happy, as you can see in our videos!!

So here is the story of how I found out, like the Virgin Mary, that I was with child. No, an angel did not come to me in the night, but pretty close. I knew I was off a little so I took a test on a Monday, and nothing. No big deal, I moved on and figured my best friend would be here soon, I mean she always is! On Friday I was starting to think I was sick or something was wrong, there is no way I could be prego? I mean it was only one or two times then right? Well I took the test, went along getting ready for work, went back to look at it and it said "PREGNANT." Those digital things don't lie. I then walked around and muttered, "No Way, it can't be, this is a joke." Then as I drove to work, I began to hyperventilate and called my Bestie Renee (Ray), she talked me off the ledge and reminded me that I was married, and that this was totally normal, and this is what married people do. I came home from work and took another, and sure enough the god damn thing still said prego! I instantly thought, fuck how am I going to tell my parents. Then I remembered that though that was my fear for a decade, I had been with the same man for 7 years and married for two, so they would probably be pretty understanding about the whole thing.

Telling Matt was another thing, I didn't want to tell him while he was at work, how boring. So I sat on the couch with the evidence waiting to greet him and when he saw it he started running through the house, doing line drills, and saying what a man he was, and how strong he was. He finally stopped to see the look on my face and asked me if I was okay. I just said, "Yes, I am very excited, but I am fucking terrified. Do you know babies come out your VAGINA?!??!" He just said whatever, I am such a man. I can see how this supportive husband thing is going to go.

We went out to eat and celebrated, and I have slowly stopped freaking out. It comes upon me, and then I relax. But then I see something on TLC or Lifetime, and images of big, fat, sweaty beasts of women giving birth and I want to sit in the corner and rock back and forth. I have kept up my spin classes a few days a week, and walk and elliptical to stay fit. My morning sickness consisted of feeling extremely hungover, which sucks when you don't get to drink or have the after fun night giggles with your girlfriends. Lot of food aversions. Generally, I eat everything, but I have wanted a lot of fruit and cereal, and though I eat fruit a lot, I am eating it like a zoo animal. I also don't eat a lot of cereal, but I have been raiding the cereal aisle lately. But I think I can do it, and I am excited, but then I remember that children NEVER GO AWAY. So though I think I can commit to stuff, this is the biggest commitment EVER! I mean I call and bug my mom about stuff all the time, I mean she has to get annoyed, but I don't care because she is my mom. Well, shit, now I am going to be someone's mom and they are going to call and bug me with dumb shit, like mom how do I make mashed potatoes, mom what was that movie with Mary Tyler Moore where she loses a kid and is a mean mother to the other kid ( Ordinary People), mom why is my vagina burning from a yeast infection and does it mean I am dying... I mean, I need to brush up on a lot of stuff..

I was on the phone today with Meghann, and Lillian asked her if we were talking about the baby. Meghann told her the baby was fine, and went on to tell me what Lillian did that day. When Meghann went to pick up the kids from Sue's, she asked Lillian if she told Sue and Ray the big news she got over Christmas about Aunt Mo. Lillian and Sue started to talk about Aunt Mo having a baby, and Lillian said, "Mo is having a baby, but I don't know how I feel about this!" Meghann and I died laughing. We don't know if Lillian is afraid she will lose her reign or that Matt and I won't pay attention to her or love her anymore... So I better make sure and give Ms. Lillian a little extra love the next 6 months and keep her involved!

But, even with all my funny quips on all this we are so excited, happy, and feel blessed. So far, everything is good, and we pray we get to enjoy the rest of this pregnancy with as much ease as possible. Matt will be a great dad, and I will be sober most of the time, so we should be fine. We are not planning on finding out if it is a boy or a girl until the birth. Matt and I both want it to be a surprise. We figure you only get to go through this for the first time once, so let's go all out. I will be taking drugs, lots of them, and Matt will be apologizing for the things that come out of my mouth, but he is used to that. I guess this is what true love really is! So hang on bloggers, cause I have a feeling my blogs will be full of the ups/downs/ and get this the fuck over with's of pregnancy over the next 6 months! Hope you are all in.. below are pics from Christmas, Enjoy!!

Matt at the 2nd Annual Kajewski Classic

Kajewski Classic, Sidenote: We had the same teams as last year, but Jo was added to our team, and Jess to the other. Since I am prego and needed to stay away from the rough aspects of the game, i.e. Chris "the Tasmanian Devil" Kajewski, I stood in the same 3 foot spot to play offensive and defense. But as Mike pointed out, I still scored 8 points, had a couple assists, and a block, but best of all I made the winning shot. It is first team to 40, and it was 38/39 and I made the shot to put us at 41.. I am awesome!! Can't wait for the 3rd Annual Kajewski Classic!

Worst Blogger of the Year!!

Ugh.. that is how I feel. I have been looking back at my blog and I blew it this year. I know we have had a busy year, but man, I have still had plenty of couch time, How I haven't blogged more is beyond me. My goal was always at least twice a month, because I know I cannot leave my fans hanging, but apparently, I was all Diva, and was all "I'll blog when I want!" So I guess I need to look through some pictures to see what we have been up to....

We have been traveling most weeks back to visit with Matt's Dad and family, and have been able to attend some of the kids sporting events. We went to Des Moines one weekend and attended a few. After Dayne's Soccer game, I was over it. Everyone else moved to the basketball gym for another game, and more after that. I volunteered to take Baby Whitney and any of the other kids who wanted to go home. MoMo is not a huge fan of attending little kid or big kid sporting events, and I am not afraid to say it out loud. I mean, I can go to one game, a whole day though, I find that a slap in the face to weekend time. Everyone says you will love it when you have kids, but let me tell ya, no I won't. I didn't like it when I did it. Don't get my wrong I loved basketball games and volleyball games. But I want to play one or two, and go home. I HATED all day tournaments, ugh...what a waste of free time... So I showed Whitney a Mo Saturday, College football, movies, naps, and cooking.. Abrym and Nolan came with us and ran around and enjoyed a leisurely afternoon too. I am going to be a great mother some day. I hope Matt is into that stuff, cause I have a feeling I am going to be looking for excuses to leave gyms, soccer fields, tracks, golf meets etc...

Jess, Hailey, and I "enjoying" a soccer game.

This year we spent Thanksgiving in Algona. Usually we do Wednesday night and Thanksgiving lunch at Matt's parents, then drive to Holstein to do dinner, and kill our stomachs. This year we just stayed in Algona, and I will say it was really nice to not travel anywhere! Instead of napping in the car on the way to Holstein, I napped on the couch... A fantastic Turkey Day!

Nolan's position the majority of Thanksgiving. Nolan played playstation all weekend. We thought he was the only one addicted and before I knew it, Matt was in t-shirt and shorts, all greasy playing right along with him, oh boys!

Men, doing what Men Do, Carving a Turkey

I also turned 28 on November 18, 2011. I know, I don't look a day past 22. This was the first "hard" birthday for me.. F-ing 28! I met Matt when I was 21 1/2. So I have been with him for 7 years, he basically stole my youth. Where the hell did the last 10 years of my life go. I swear I was just 18, shopping for prom dresses, saying I was going to save myself for marriage, and buying a shower caddy for my dorm... well shit, those things all just flew right by!

Showing off my fancy shoes I bought my old butt for my birthday

Take that Steph Dillion... I am entering the cake biz!

Okay, so let me explain this cake. I decided since I slave away making Matt a beautiful cake every year, why not make one for myself. When I was a little girl my mom would make me a chocolate cake with a crystallized chocolate homemade frosting. This was a cake my Grandma Mollie would make and we would devour in Sioux City. So I got the recipe and made it. I remember making it a couple times in High School and that the frosting is tricky. You have to bring it to a boil, then only let it boil for so long, and then put the pot in an inch of cold water and whisk continuously to thicken it up, and then hurry and spread it on the cake before it gets solid. Well I tried to do the middle layer and outside layer all at once. As you can see, I wasn't that successful and it got hard before I could spread it. It looks like a 3 year old made this cake. But I don't care. It was freaking delicious and we ate the whole god damn thing..

Matt and I also decorated the Casa De Kajewski for the Holidays. Matt is good about helping, and we have come up with our own little traditions. We only have a midsize tree, and it is starting to get real full. Every year we go to VonMaur and pick out one Waterford Ball and a Christopher Radko ornament. See, since Waterford is Irish, and Radko is Polish we buy one for each of us. Then in 20 years we will have 40 really fancy ornaments. I love my fancy ornaments and mix them with my regular ones. It will be nice to have a big tree one day to cover them in our Polish and Irish ornaments.

Our Radko addition this year, Roger the Frog (as named by Matt)

Waterford Ball

Of Course the Kajewski's would have a political ornament

So Pretty

So apparently, that is what we have been up to in the last few months. I cannot believe how fast this year has gone. January to June seems to go slow, but then the Summer, Fall, and end of the year come up so quick! I love Christmas time, and can't wait for the weekend festivities.

Matt trying out his snowshoes at the golf course by our house. My husband, the outdoorsman! This was after a couple good snowstorms in Omaha. Unfortunately it has all melted and we are having a snow-less Christmas :(

I will blog with all of our Christmas festivities sooner than later after we get back from the Holidays, I swear! Merry Christmas Bloggers!!

Camera Love

Beginning of September Matt asked me what I wanted for gifts this year. See I go Anniversary in October, my birthday in November, and Christmas in December. Basically I get spoiled for 3 months and then denied for 9, some years it is traumatic. I told him I wanted a nice camera. He thought it was kind of weird, but started to research and was all into it. Before I knew it, it was Matt's baby and his final decision :) (I say that with love). I was leaning towards a Nikon and he picked a Sony. I loved them both and Sony is fun to play with. We have had lots of fun with it. We were planning on taking a Thanksgiving trip to Washington D.C., but because we have sweet luck, my car got T-boned and totaled. So I didn't get to complete my purchase on Expedia for our trip and instead we had to buy a new car. I love my car, but I REALLY wanted to go to D.C. and use my fancy new camera!

Matt's Senior Picture

We visited Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City since we were waiting for Pizza we ordered at our nearby family favorite El Fredo's. Just stopped and said hi to Molly, Luke, and Grandma and Grandpa, and it was a great place to play with settings on our camera, I love a good cemetery.

Here we are in our Car Commercial Shoot!

Needless to say I love my new camera. Matt loves it to. We find ourselves fighting over it and we both think we are the one that runs the camera better. We are a couple of Don Knop's up in here.

We were back in Algona last weekend with all of Matt's family. Matt's dad has been sick for a few months and we have found out he has Pancreatic Cancer. This has been a very difficult matter for all of us. Mike will meet with Doctors at Mayo and we are hoping for some treatments to alleviate his symptoms. Things have been pretty rough for us since we got this news and a good old fashioned weekend at home was what we needed. We did yardwork (well Matt, Jo and Chris did) and cleaned (well Jo and Jessie) did, and ate and drank (I did). As with other Kajewski events there was a group sporting event. This time Football. I sat out to document and take pictures with our camera.

Matt is a little too Intense here!

Hailey and Nolan! I love this picture. Good Sibling Love

Mike and Abrym

Hope you enjoyed our update. The football game was a success and there wasn't any broken bones. I am not looking forward to Thanksgiving or Christmas. Chris gets brutal on the court or field. Two sports bras are definitely needed if you are playing with this crowd! Happy Halloween to all you Spooks!

Save a Life, Grope Your Wife!

Another good thing about living closer to home, going home for fun little trips, like playing in the Annual Breast Cancer Golf Tournament. I played in the first tournament a few years ago when I was home after the bar and before my wedding, but this thing has taken on a life of its own. The tournament keeps getting bigger and better, and it is a lot of fun. Each hole has different "tricks" on them, everyone decorates their carts, and there is lots of boob grabbing and dirty jokes from women of all ages. It is basically awesome.

The Team: Me, Emily, Meghann, Jami

Our Shirts said, "Save a Life, Grope Your Wife". We would like to thank some guy that Jami works with for the slogan, it was awesome. To demonstrate giving yourself monthly exams we had pictures of our husbands feeling us up blown up on our carts...It was really difficult to convince our husbands to cop a feel while someone took a picture, kind of creepy, but hey its for charity!!

James and Em just folding laundry and feeling boobies

Matt, just checking the perimeter

Whitmers... Awkward...jk

The tournament was a blast and we raised some good Dolla Bills for the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Matt and I also headed back a few weeks later for a fundraiser for the Club. Well some may have called it a fundraiser, but really it was so that we could dance and party the night away with the Damon Dotson Band. We played in a tournament all day and drank and partied all night. We are really good at both of those things. The Schweitzberger Sisters made it back with their fabulous husbands, which made it even more fun. Plus I had candy cigarettes for the occasion, that is right, even the ones that blow smoke... sidenote...I gave a couple to Luke and Lillian and Meghann FREAKED, who would have guessed she would have that reaction. No one walked around shaking their finger at people more, strutting her stuff and smoking candy cigarettes better than Meghann, and look at what a chain smoking, drinking, skank she turned out to be! So I guess Meghann does have a point.... Luckily for her, Lillian and Luke had no idea what they were because they didn't grow up watching their parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents chain smoke at the dining room table and drinking Baileys...you stay classy Cosgrove family...anyway.. back to the party pics..

Smoke them if you Got them!!

We had a good weekend and crawled into bed at about 4:30 a.m. that Saturday night, so no we didn't make it to Mass. But I think Jesus understands, those nights don't happen all the time anymore.

So as you can see, there has been a lot of fun had this summer! I have many more posts to come, but I am trying to space them out, I don't want to overload my bloggers on all the fun!

Yes, that is the starting line of a golf cart race...AND IT WAS AWESOME... We lost, but we were all laughing so hard, there may have been a few who almost peed their pants. Kegels Ladies!
