License to Wed

The invites are out and we are receiving RSVP's in the mail.. Little Scary... I am starting to feel like George Banks in Father of the Bride...Who can we ask not to eat?? MMM....jk.. Matt came back for the long weekend so we could go to the lake one more time. Since he was here and we had plenty of time we decided to go and get the marriage license. You have to get it at LEAST 3 days before the big day and knowing us we would completely forget until the day before. That means that Matt and I would be running around trying to find a judge to waive the three days and they wouldn't because they would witness me swearing up a storm, Matt Sweating and my lovely white trash everyday sweats I am wearing these days and I don't think that would help us get the three days waived.....so instead of that situation we though we should just be responsible and get the license well in advance!

Well when you go and get the license you have to have a witness who knows both of you, and since Dad was at his Ida Grove Office that day he was our witness. Of course he made us take pictures and document the getting of the license....

Dad Getting Caught "Bribing" Matt

Me, The Ida County Recorder, and Matt... The First Step in Legalizing Matt as the official Trash Taker-Outer and Me as the official trash creator (you need to compliment each other)

So I guess it is really official. Invites are out, the License has been obtained...now it is a lot of last minute stuff. Mom and I have been doing wedding stuff everyday.. and it is never ending!! I do NOT have the bride gene..I have the delegate gene...But since we did nothing for this wedding until after the bar the wedding details are quite annoying. Where is Fronk when you need him!!

Plus since I work so hard.. (I bar tend about 15 hours a week folks, I am in the big time) I enjoyed my labor day by eating lots of good food and did some damage to my wedding bod..but damn those margaritas, cheddar wursts, smores and cookies were worth every god damn weight watcher point that I didn't count.. F. Oh and my wedding dress is in and I will be trying it on on Wednesday...so basically I am going to drink chicken broth, ice water, run, and sit in the sauna for the next two days...I am not good at timing my pig outs..

Yesterday Libba was kind enough to take some Engagement Pics of Matt and I. I can't wait to see them. I know they are going to be fabulous because she is so freaking talented..I will make sure and post a couple when we get them! Hope everyone is Well!

Bachelorette Party

This weekend was the big Bachelorette Party. As usual I lost my voice, feel like a truck ran me over, and ate everything I wanted this last weekend. It was awesome. All of my girlfriends were able to make it except for one, I guess I am one lucky girl to have so many wonderful friends! Friday we had a beautiful hot day, so I boated with a few of my friends who came up early. Saturday was the party day and wouldn't you know it, it rained all day. But we made the best of it and partied like rockstars.

UNI Graduates / Attendee's (Back: Me, Amy, Liz, Ash, Bri; F: Meg, Anna, Clare)

My Hamline Pipers! Renee, Ash, and I

Because our plan was to boat all day Saturday and it rained all day we had to make alternative plans. We did gifts and sat on the deck and played a couple of games. Saturday night we loaded up and headed to the Walker Valley Watering Hole. This local attraction is known as "C'J's or Country Jim's." Now imagine a place that operates as a bar, restaurant, gas station, campground, and bait shop which is covered with stuffed dead animals. As you walk in the door a giant stuffed bear greets you..I know what you are thinking, "I want to go to there!" (quote stolen from liz lemon) Oh the joys of partying in a red state. We took that place by storm, and we were thoroughly welcomed by the locals. I don't think that place has seen so many beautiful women at once before! (I am bragging, we were hot!) We were able to dance outside until it got rainy (for the 6th time that day) and then we headed in side to the bar/restaurant/convenience store to dance in the area between the convenience store part ends and where the restaurant begins. The majority of the fun was watching all of my friends just laughing hysterically at where we were and what we were doing.

All the Ladies Before Heading to CJ's

All in all it was a blast and we ended up with a lot of unpostable pictures. Including many with a Bachelorette party regular who has been passed around from party to party. His name is Peter and he is always such a good sport. (funny blow up doll). I got many awesome gifts but my gf Darci had the funniest gift of the weekend. It was a $20 grab bag from an adult store in KC and that $20 bag was full of the most inappropriate and funny things to make us laugh for hours. Mom and Sean were the adult supervision so don't worry we all behaved...

The Gift Bag that Kept on Giving!!

It was a fabulous party even though it rained and thanks to everyone for coming! This week is my organization week. I have kind of spent the last two weeks just chillin' and being lazy and now mom and I have to finish this wedding stuff. 4 weeks until bar results and so now my anxiety that was gone for two weeks is starting to come to the surface. I just want the results but at the same time living in la la land not knowing allows me to pretend it was all a bad dream.. oh well.. Like I said, I guess I gotta grow up! what a bummer. Hope everyone is well!

Staycation or Miniation, or Recessionation

Bloggers! Sup.. Well last week we had a mini family cation at the cabin. Clare was not able to join us as she taking off work for the big Bachlorette Party this coming weekend, but everyone else was there. We had sun, food, and fun. Nothing crazy exciting happened. I really didn't take any pictures, I was too lazy to even get out my camera. I haven't been able to enjoy the cabin all summer as you can tell from my previous posts, because I was preoccupied from that whole bar exam stuff.

Riley, Matt, and Dad on the Boat

Next weekend is the big bachlorette party. My favorite females from Galva-Holstein, UNI, and Hamline are heading to the Cosgrove Cabin for a weekend of debauchery. We are just going to be doing some boating, boogying, and some cocktails... I have a feeling it is going to be OC. By Sunday I will most likely feel like Amy Winehouse after a good weekend binge, and I will probably be sending myself to rehab, without my father's help. Jk... I am too old to get that crazy. Man what happened to me! Law School ruined me and made me lose a little bit of my social edge..dang it!

Lastly, I am going to leave you with the performance of a lifetime. It is Lillian and Thaddeus (as Lilly calls him) dancing to single ladies. Lillian is the leader and Dad is following her lead. I guess this is what you do for fun now when there are little kids. But it is great entertainment. Dad will probably be mad I am posting this, but it is just too funny and cute. Especially when Lilly discovers her reflection in the TV and stares at it to watch herself shake her money maker... and the sad part is that she learned this from sitting in our laps watching videos on youtube and seeing the Beyonce Video. Technology, Can you Beat That (aka Lou Sedaris)The things kids can pick up.. man she is funny.Plus you get to hear me yell at my mother...Would it really be a vacation unless there was yelling at your mother? I think not.. Well enjoy and be ready for next week's post, because I am probably going to need to find a way to censor it... bow chicka wah wah..

I Bellied Up to the Bar

It is over. I did it. It sucked. It was horrible. The worst experience of my life. Depressing. Impossible. But it is over! That is how I can sum up the last two months of my life. Especially the last month where you study 16 hours a day, freak out the rest and don't sleep. But I went into that damn test and gave it my all. Few Observations....The kid next to me was a freak. The first day (essay day) he was done a little early, not crazy show-off early, just a little early. The second day we have 200 multiple choice questions 3 hours in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. So I worked up to the last second, as did most people. This jerkwad was done an hour early in the morning and an hour and a half early in the afternoon. Seriously? Nerd McNerdson, how the hell did you do 200 multiple choice questions in half the time..While I sit there and have to re-read the majority of them to figure out what the hell they are asking!! Story of my life I got seated next to "2nd in my class from Iowa."

So I have tried to return to normalcy, or better than normalcy. Straight Nothingness! Which I think I finally got a hold of this weekend. The last three years has been a whirlwind of class, work, studying, finals. My life was scheduled around Law School, which is 100 times more intrusive than undergrad. Undergrad was a 4 year social outing, while law school is the precursor to Dante's Inferno. At first it was hard to adjust to doing nothing. Nothing. And This weekend I mastered it. I came back to Saint Paul and Matt and I spent the weekend going out to eat, going to movies, and being lazy. I napped today and it was awesome. We also made a trip to Minehaha Falls. It was nice to just be and do nothing.

Me at the Falls!

Matt pointing at the falls, weird..

Matt found the ice cream truck..score!

So now I am going to spend my time anyway I want. I finally get to be a Bride! I have to be Jane Fonda (goes along with the bride shiz), apply for jobs, hang out, and do whatever I feel like. This post does not put the whole law school/lawyer thing in a good light, and I don't care. I am taking a break from that for a few weeks. I will attempt to resume it in a fresh light, but right now I am going to do my own thing!

Walking the Plank

I wanted to share one more post before I walk the plank. I am officially the princess of darkness. I wear only black like Angelina, I eat one meal a day because it is all I have time for and want, and I hate everyone and everything. So my day was brightened up a little when I got this video in my email. One of my girlfriends from college sent this to me today and it made me smile for a little bit. Just when I think Matt and I are a pair of Hippies, we really aren't, we just have some hipster tendencies. Though we have tried to come up with ways to make our wedding unique, we are still fairly traditional hippies (if that is possible??) I don't know if I could walk down the aisle like this, but the wedding party is awesome. This has to be one of the funniest groups of people I have ever seen.

A week from now this will be over.. Thank god.. See you all then.. Back to scowling in black like Angelina, minus the humanitarian work. I am focused solely on myself. As usual.

Sounds About Right

A friend of mine posted this for all us in the last 7 day stretch. I thought I would share it with my fellow bloggers just so you may get a taste of how stupid this process is. You may not get the jokes from not going through my hell, but Meghann should get a kick out of it as will anyone who is married to a lawyer, has one in their family or a friend of lawyer. But I think even without that connection it will make you laugh. It did for me. I warn you it is foul mouthed, and it didn't come from me, though I think I could have written this if I wasn't in over my head in "How the F am I going to do this?" mode.

Bar Exam Humor

Daisy’s Disclaimer: I did not write this. If I knew who to credit this to, I would do so. This won’t be funny unless you have spent a minimum of two months of your life studying for a bar exam. It contains vulgar language & crude remarks so if that is not your thing, perhaps I’ll see you for my next post? If you are still reading & haven’t taken a bar exam please let this be some insight into the insanity. (Information reprinted from: http://daisyjd.com/)

1. People who don’t record their deeds:
Hey. Fuck face. That’s a nice deed you got there. Went ahead and bought TheAcre, didya? That’s awesome. Owning property is a sign of real maturity. Now, why don’t you do us all a favor, and go record the fucking deed.

Right. Fucking. Now.

Don’t put it in a goddamn drawer. Don’t go off to India for 20 years. Don’t leave the deed in your will for dear cousin Victorianox. Get your fat lazy ass down to the records office, and record it before I burn your house down. Don’t worry, I’m not a “known” arsonist.

2: Wily property sellers:
Here is a suggestion to those Bill of Rights violatin’ petty thug ass clowns, the Police. How about you go down to the Acre, and arrest the son of a bitch who sells the same house to 15 different people, over and over. I’m sick of this guy getting away every time he pulls this shit, and I’m left to sort out the fucking pieces.

3: ‘Known’ arsonists
Here’s a little tip to all the cretins that keep hiring ‘known’ arsonists to burn down their cheating girlfriend’s house. Why is it, do you think, that he is a known arsonist? He’s “known” because he has been fucking caught before. You don’t know who the good arsonists are, do you?!Because they have their shit together. But no, you had to go hire Dusseldorf, or Durango, or whatever D word your fuckwit moron arsonist is named, and now he’s gone and burned the wrong house, and left me with a BAR question.

4: People who back out of conspiracies
Why don’t you just stick with it and save us all some trouble.

5. Power companies that leave an electric wire live to deter copper theft
While I appreciate your effort to rid the world of thieves stupid enough to try and steal raw copper wiring that’s humming and has blue arcs dancing on it, it’s just gonna bite you in the ass in the end. Just let the copper go.

6. Fertile Octogenarians
I think I speak for all of us when I say……..Burn the witch! Burn her!And don’t use a ‘known’ arsonist!

7. People who use anything more complicated than Fee Simple Absolute in a will
Hey, old man. Either give Horatio your interest in the Acre, or don’t, alright? Don’t condition it on him growing a mustache, or learning to play the calliope, or winning ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ Don’t grant a springing executive interest to Zenobia if she manages to graduate from Ninja academy. Stop making my life more complicated than it needs to be, you Narcissistic old man, and stop trying to control your property from the grave in a vain attempt to make up for your feebleness in life.

8. House Painters
Just paint the fucking house yourself, Paulson. Trust me on this one. It’s not worth it.

9. Bank Mortgages
Hi there, First National Bank of South Calizonachussettsas. I don’t mean to tell you how to run your business, but allow me to impart a bit of sage wisdom. When someone :

1) named Defaultina McBankrupstein,

2) is taking out her 17th mortgage with you,

3) on a place called Mushacre

4) so she can buy a new hat,

do NOT fucking come crying to me when the inevitable judicial foreclosure sale nets $34, a button, and some lint, all of which are devoured by the banks that are 20 miles ahead of you in creditor line. And do not ask me whether you are a junior or senior mortgagor, or whether you debt is secured, or some other bullshit I don’t understand, because the answer is always the same.

D) You are fucked. Take it like a man.

10. Wanna-be Burglars
I am sick to death of these slackjawed melon-heads deciding at 2 a.m. that they need to borrow their neighbors wrench, and are sure he ‘won’t mind’ if they saunter on over there in the middle of the night, crowbar the garage open, smash open his tool chest, and ‘borrow it.’ And then always the inevitable fucking: Did he commit Larceny/Burglary/Robbery?????? Ohhhhh, no intent!

Let him go, boys. Let the man go. So I can throw the wrench right at his goddamn teeth.

Good thing when we are really in practice we will have these Intent Goggles (c), that can magically tell us, despite every bit of evidence to the contrary, this jackass really didn’t intend to commit a crime. He genuinely thought that breaking into your neighbor’s house, stealing his car, taking a shit on his pool table, and sleeping with his wife were all part of the social covenants between good neighbors.

So 7 1/2 Days of studying. Instruction Orientation next Monday afternoon, and the fires of hell Tuesday and Wednesday. I have resloved myself to the fact that there is no way out of DM without taking this test. So I am going to nut up and do it. Now if I could only tell my body that so it would quit freaking out and sleep.. Oh well 10 days and I am free. I am going to do my best, hope I pass, and if not I am going down swinging and I will see it in February.. But lets hope not, cause I can't do this again!

Michael Jackson: Mo's Tribute

I know we are all completely sick of the MJ memorials. But whatever you think of him, he is awesome. I know he got crazy, but old school MJ is so good that it evens it out for me. For those of you who don't know, I got a mean Michael Kick which I usually reserve for bars and wedding receptions for when Billie Jean is on. (I feel for baby's mama's, especially after working in child support law for a year) Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to do the kick in my wedding dress, but we will see. Well this video is from Stockholm and it is the shit.I wanted to share it before it got popular so I can take all of the credit for it. Since I may be the hippest of all the bloggers, (Well the Young sisters may be hipper, but my jokes are funnier) So Enjoy. And I know I should be studying, but the rule is that I can get on the "internets" (as Matt calls it) every couple hours for a 10 minute break...and it looks like time is up!! Enjoy!

This is cool, but We used to do this on Main Street In Holstein, or the Loop in Ida Grove, no big deal or anything...
