Weekend of Memorial

I know. I am the newest winner of worst blogger ever. It is not that we have been that busy, but we have had nothing to blog about until this last weekend. Matt and I packed up the Lincoln and undertook the horrible drive (6 hours!) to Holstein/The Lake for a long weekend. The lake is my favorite place in the world. Water, sun, eating, drinking, boating, reading, all my favorite summer pastimes. We made a pit stop in Holstein and got to see Ms. Stella, and also introduced Lillian and Luke to the art of running through the sprinkler..

Ms. Stella

Lillian and LBJ.. he sees food, so naturally he refuses to look at the camera..

It is crazy how fast Lillian and Luke change every time I see them. Luke's funny thing is that he makes a noise after he takes a drink. Like this satisfying ah...thats good noise..he is such a funny little man..

We got to the Lake Friday, and Lillian looked at me and goes, "Mo can we go to the beach?" I replied, "Sure Lillian, we will go in a bit." Before I even had time to look up she was standing in the middle of the little family room downstairs, running around naked, looking for her suit.. Needless to say she was just as excited for the start of summer as the rest of us..

Lilly, Aunt Mo, and LBJ

We had a great Memorial weekend. Lillian and Luke hit up the beach, we did some boating, got a little sun, and we never saw Riley once... (he arrives and leaves with us, where he goes in between is anyone's guess!) Our biggest excitement had to be the "Rattler" that showed up on our deck. I forget which night, but we were getting ready to go to bed and Matt went to get a water from the little fridge on the deck. Well he returned back inside looking white as a ghost, and swore a snake just nipped him. Dad, Matt and I went out and sure enough a giant freaking tan and black snake was on the deck... I hate snakes, Matt hates snakes, Debbie screams at everything, and Dad chased the snake with barbecue tongs.. We did get the snake off the deck and woke all the Whitmer's in the process. I could not sleep that night, all I kept seeing was this giant snake.. It was huge!! Though we call it the "Rattler" it was most likely not a rattlesnake, and apparently it was some Bull snake.. But after a few drinks, it was a Rattle Snake to us!!

Per our usual lake weekends, Mom made awesome food, Matt tried to act like he helped, and Meghann shows up after the work is done..

Dad made his obligatory phone call to Riley to make sure he was alive..

Ugly Recliners, but we got two of them and we all fight over them. Best napping chairs ever!!

....and Meghann and Lillian got on the Jet Ski.. I don't know what is more surprising. That Lillian or Meghann got on.. Meg is the Gert of our family. Pretty sure she said something to Riley this weekend about how he couldn't do something because the front of his brain wasn't fully developed...that's our Meghann! But looks like Brave Lillian got her mom to take a cruise on the jet ski!!

and then we played charades....

By Sunday I thought we needed to liven up our weekend.. So we played Charades... We did couple teams, Whitmer's vs. Kajewski's vs TC and Debbie.. Kajewski's started off slow, but we won in the end. Charades is so much fun! Meghann is awkward, Matt is obscure, Jamie is serious, and Debbie doesn't understand the no talking part so she talks or grunts...quite funny.. But Matt's movie and book choices were quite comical. He is known for making obscure references and being oddly funny.. well here is a video of that.. Dad happened to draw one of Matt's movie choices, and he had to act it out.. do you know what it is??

Yes, that would be Precious, based on the novel Push by Sapphire. And Yes, Matt wrote that whole title down on his slip. Unfortunately for Debbie and TC, they never got past Precious..

Man I miss hanging with the "Holstein Cosgrove's"!!! Y'all (yes, I am a southerner now, so I am obligated to use the language) look great! I am hoping to make a long trip up to Iowa next summer so maybe we can get my kiddos out on the beach with Meg's! Take care and good to hear from you - FINALLY (like I can talk!)
