I know you all really want to see the updates on our family, just as much as I want to see the updates on yours.. unfortunately this year has been batshit crazy for us.. not to mention the last 5 months.. let me give a quick update on the year 2012...
So some of you may not know but the Kajewski's moved to Des Moines! Surprise! I will explain... Last year Matt was not loving his job on the base in Omaha beginning about summer 2011. I was fine in my job, but knew I had reached my potential and would have to change in a year or so.. We decided that he needed to look around and opened his search to not just the Omaha area but to where I was licensed. So that meant anywhere in Iowa, Nebraska, or South Dakota... He had interivews in Omaha, Des Moines, Sioux Falls, and Iowa City, but in it was Dupont/Pioneer in Des Moines that offered him a great job... and so he took it.. Since it was the middle of the winter and our lease wasn't up till June, and I was pregnant we decided it was best for Matt to travel back and forth, and I would look for a job and if not move in the spring.. It worked out well and Matt would leave on Monday mornings and come home Thursday or Friday.. Pioneer knew our situation and they were awesome. I spent my nights without Matt enjoying lots of bad TV and taking long hot baths, knowing that I better relish all the "Me" time because it was going to drastically change! Before we knew it, it was the spring and by then I was so close to my leave we didn't want to give up all my paid time off I accrued. So we continued with that for another couple months. You have all read my birth story, so you know the rest. I didn't talk about it till now because we just had so much going on, and I was sad to leave and excited for Matt and us all at the same time. So basically we have been in Des Moines for almost six months.. We miss Omaha, our home, our neighborhood and we REALLY miss Elmwood and Memorial Park. We were at those parks everyday since they were within walking distance of our home. We are slowly getting acclimated to DM, but a new bambino has limited all our exploring we were able to do in the O..
So over the last year, Matt got a great new job, we had a baby, we moved, I got a new job (more on that later) and Matt's dad passed away. 2012 has been one of the best and worst years for us, but we are hanging in there and having that smiling little guy has helped us trudge on.

Right now I'm missing movies more than anything, which is odd because we never went to the movies all that much PB (pre-baby).
The title of your blog made me chuckle a bit. One of my besties from college just had her second child and we were talking about the challenges and joys of newborns. She said, "It's just like the book says: it was the best of times, it was the worst of times."
I can't believe we're nearing 2013 already! Here's to the world NOT ending next month!
