Fall-A-Palooza

I thought the fall would allow us to slow down, but that is yet to be the case. The end of September I attended one of my good high school friend's wedding. Darci Vohs Boling got married in KC. If I haven't reiterated it before, I will again, I love, LOVE, LOVE Kansas City! It is just a nice town. We had a blast. There was lots of food, lots of dancing, and we may have partied until 4... So basically I felt perimenopausal the next day due to the hot flashes and mood swings from my hangover. Now I understand my mother's anger these past few years...

Em, Me, the Beautiful Bride, Donna, and Jami

Matt and I also survived our 1st year of Marriage. As my friend Lou Sedaris would say, "Can You Beat That! A whole year of Marriage!" It was a fast and whirl wind of a year. For our first year we headed to our favorite place in the world, the 50613, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Matt and I love that town. We would live there permanently if we could. We stayed at the Historic Black Hawk Hotel, which is where we got engaged. If you are ever in the area, that is the place to stay. They have a great little Martini Bar next door. There is also a great sushi/deli connected to it that we had lunch at. We spent two days eating, drinking, and partying our way through our college years. Even though we graduated from UNI 4 years apart, it is like we never left to either one of us. We even ended our last night with drunk pizza ordering... It is amazing how after weeks, months, or years, I still know the number to Papa Johns in the CF..(319-277-7722). Classic.

Matt got me some beautiful jewelry from John Wind. This was one of Oprah's favorite things a few years ago and I have seen it in some boutiques and may have subtly hinted (or not so subtly hinted) that I would really like a necklace from JW. Since Matt is the best gift giver in the world (seriously I am spoiled) I got it. I would describe it as kind of a charm bracelet/necklace stuff. I usually hate that charmy, kitchy, mommyish, ABC Teacher Sweaters Crap, but this is different. I LOVES IT.. Vintagey and not cheesy.. If it is good enough for O and Gayle, it is good enough for me! I got a short and long chain and the initials and other charms. It is basically Fierce. Matt on the other hand got new dress shoes and a Waterford and Polish Ornament for our Christmas Tree. Well, okay those may be more for me too, but he really does love fancy ornaments. Plus we have to start our own family tree, so might as well do it in Style!

We also unfroze the top of our cake and ate the crap out of it. Matt thought he should mark our anniversary with a ritualistic cutting of our cake.

I swear to god we did not plan this. I was just screwing around filming Matt. I was dying laughing. I thought maybe he would say something nice about being married a year or something, but instead he pulled an Indiana Jones while he cut our cake. He's all mine ladies, back off..

Hope Everyone had a great Halloween! I will post pics of our Halloween later this week. Can't wait to see all the adorable Blogger Goblins!

The BEST thing about you two is that you laugh together (oh, and let us watch sometimes). That will get you through about anything. Happy Anniversary and here's to many more...Cheers!

Happy 1 year!

In my opinion, your wedding cake was the bomb of all wedding cakes. I devoured the _ _ _ _ out of that cake at your reception 8 1/2 months pregnant! Travis would get a drink...I would get another slice of cake...

Happy Anniversary! Really the cake was good? R you two living in the same city yet! Enjoy Omaha and CB. We sure did. It's like Darcy and Michael 2010 style...although Michael was going to school in Omaha while I worked in the Bluffs! We lived on the south side near Rosenblatt! Sweet neighborhood and near Howards!!!
