An "Engaged Enrichment" Weekend

We Survived! Matt and I had our marriage retreat this weekend in Okoboji. We began the weekend Saturday morning a little crabby and not wanting to be there. We were a short walk from Juli and Travis's house and it took everything in my power from not escaping to the Johnson's! By lunch we realized we should get involved or be miserable. We talked about money, sex, natural family planning, parenting, faith. We were one of the "older" couples. Most of them were 22-25. Well I guess I was young, Matt is old. I sometimes think I am too young to get married, I can't imagine if I was younger. I would have missed out on years of getting hopped up and making bad decisions...and that would have been a shame.

Matt ready to go home after the retreat!!

Some of the things were helpful, some were not, and over all it lasted way too long. The best part of the weekend was when we had Father Brad from Ford Dodge speak to us. He was very entertaining and informing. He didn't join the priesthood till later in life, and so he told us all about his skirt chasing days...(as he called them). He really did a good job, what a cool priest!

One of the things we had to do is say what traditions/habits we wanted to keep from our significant other's family. Instead of choosing one of my family's holiday traditions or maybe the hoo-ray... Matt thought the best answer to that question was that he wanted to keep using profanity. He says it keeps everyone on their toes.. I of course called him an a**.

Reading the "Marriage" Magazine...I think I was reading the article called. "Yes you will always have to tell him to take out the Trash, and 50 other things that you can never change about your man."

We are officially ready for marriage! Well at least we think we are..This week is a short week for us. We are heading back home Thursday and moving some of my stuff home to storage. Saturday the Extended Cosgroves are throwing an engagement party for us at Frank and Cheri's. That will be fun as usual. Almost everyone will be there. We don't know if Matt can beat Jamie's engagement party performance but we put all the towel racks on notice at Frank and Cheri's, just in case Matt feels like ripping one off the wall (due to being over served.) Monday I fly off to meet Mom and The Fauci's in Florida for a little R & R! I can't wait. I am so excited to see Michael, Darcy and the kids!! Hope everyone is welcoming spring like we finally are here in MN!!

Mo!! You guys should have come over! Had I known you were close by, I certainly would have snuck over to your room in the night with alcohol. Enjoy Florida :) And enjoy the engagement party too, Travis is staying so far away from that party, when he thinks about Frank and Cheri's house all he can think about is the hot alley and crazy Cosgroves!! Ha ha!

Yea, you passed! Why Okoboji? Looks like it was still pretty cold there. It is beautiful here in Florida and it is expected to stay nice. Can't wait for you all to get here!

Can't wait to see you at the party!!! All is ready to go and you and Matt can just enjoy! Put Matt on notice that we marked the crap out of Jamie with a permanent marker and if he allows himself to be "over served" by our trusty bartender Pat that he is fair game! My favorite was your big "dirty prot" on his buttocks!
